Planning on writing something about it for ^^ I checked some sites about NGSCB and it looks like there was much debate about this feature as this 'secure computing' policy of MS was maybe secure according to MS's standards, but not per se for the end-user. Basically all of your private info was to be stored in a vault inside the pc secured by software aswell part of the CPU that had a unique crypto key. This is one of the reasons I wanted to have an NGSCB article on the BA wiki. Despite reports that claimed otherwise, Microsoft announced at WinHEC 2004 that it was only revisiting its plans for the platform, based on feedback from developers and ISV partners who stated that they did not want to rewrite their programs in order to benefit from the new functionality. You are right that the technology probably wouldn't be in 4074 or above (though it didn't hurt to check that build), but this isn't due to the project being cancelled. Microsoft planned a huge list of new features for Longhorn (and its planned successor, codenamed Blackcomb), many of which never saw the light of day. If you're interested in the history of Windows, you probably know a bit about ' Longhorn,' Microsoft's internal codename for the OS update that would eventually become Windows Vista.
